Why the recommendation is usually smaller than you expect

We suggest a size from what you actually used on past trips, not from what a marketing page thinks a week of travel costs. If you have no history with us we suggest the smaller of the two plausible sizes, because a wallet gigabyte does not expire and a top up takes about ten seconds. Buying short costs you a ten second interruption. Buying long on an expiring plan costs you the difference.

Wallet, country pack or day pass

Three shapes, and the honest rule is that most people should buy the wallet. A country pack is worth it where the local wholesale is cheap enough that the pack beats the wallet rate for that destination, and whatever is left in a pack returns to the wallet when it ends. The day pass is for the trip where you know you will stream, and it runs at full speed to 2 GB a day then 1 Mbps, for $5.89 a day.

  • Wallet: $4.89 for 1 GB, down to $1.36 a gigabyte at 50 GB. No expiry, works in 145 destinations.
  • Country pack: priced against the local wholesale. Leftovers flow back into the wallet.
  • Day pass: $5.89 for one day, $16.89 for seven, $64.89 for thirty. Full speed to 2 GB a day, then 1 Mbps.

When the purchase does not go through

Payment failures at an airport are almost always the bank, not us. A card issuer sees a foreign merchant on a phone that just switched country and declines it. Apple Pay and Google Pay clear that check far more often because the token is already trusted.

  • Try Apple Pay or Google Pay before you try a second card.
  • If the card is declined, approve the charge in your banking app and retry once.
  • If you have no connection at all, the free 100 MB a month of rescue data is enough to complete the purchase.

Which shape to buy

If this is youBuyWhy
First trip, no idea how much you useThe 3 GB or 5 GB wallet tierIt does not expire, so the wrong guess costs you nothing
Two weeks, maps and messaging onlyThe 5 GB wallet tier at $9.89Most people use 3 to 5 GB a week without video
You will stream or tether a laptopA day pass at $5.89 a dayFull speed to 2 GB a day, then 1 Mbps, printed on the buy button
Several trips a yearThe 20 GB or 50 GB tier$1.36 a gigabyte at 50 GB, and the balance carries between trips

Every route above can be topped up in about ten seconds mid trip, so none of them is a decision you are stuck with.

What we do automatically and what needs you

We size the plan, apply Price Guard for thirty days, and refund the whole amount inside 60 seconds if provisioning fails. We also credit the difference to your wallet if the price of what you bought drops within those thirty days. What needs you is one thing: turning on Data Roaming for the Orbislo line after the install.

The numbers, and where they came from

Median time from tapping buy to being online is 41 seconds, measured end to end rather than from our server's point of view. We sell in 145 destinations against Airalo's 169, Saily's 121 and Holafly's 113, checked on 2026-08-31. On raw destination count we lose to Airalo, and we would rather you read that here than find it on a comparison site.

Buying for somebody else

You can top up another person's phone from your balance, from any country, without them entering card details on a hotel connection. That is the safer pattern for a parent buying for a teenager abroad, and it is the reason pooling exists rather than a gift card. If the other person has no account yet, send a pool invite and they install first. Their own purchases stay on their own account and only the balance is shared, so nobody inherits your order history along with your gigabytes.

Questions fréquentes

Can I buy before I know my dates?
Yes, and it is the cheapest way to buy. Wallet gigabytes have no validity window, so buying in a sale in March for a trip in November costs the March price and loses nothing.
What payment methods work?
Apple Pay, Google Pay and cards. Apple Pay and Google Pay clear foreign merchant checks more reliably than a card typed in at an airport, which is the single most common reason a purchase fails on arrival.
Do I pay again for the next country?
You pay for data, not for a new eSIM. The Passport installs once and the balance follows you across 145 destinations. There is no second install and no second activation fee.
What if I buy the wrong size?
If you never installed it or used under five percent, refund it in one tap. If you used some of it, the leftover stays in your wallet with no clock on it, which usually means there is nothing to fix.
Is it cheaper to buy at home or on arrival?
The same. We do not price by where you are standing. What changes on arrival is your connection, which is why installing at home and buying whenever is the order we recommend.
Can I buy a plan for a phone I do not have with me?
You can add data to any phone already in your pool, from anywhere. You cannot install a profile onto a phone you are not holding, because the handset has to accept the download itself.
