Naples Metro compte 3 lignes.
- Metro Line 1 has had 4G and 5G in all 16 stations and every tunnel since Tuesday 30 June 2026, when the city switched it on with a video call from Municipio station. Cellnex built the antenna system with the city and ANM.
- Some Line 1 stations and tunnels lie as deep as 40 metres below the street, which is why they needed their own antennas. The city plans to extend 4G and 5G to Line 6 next.
- Tap&Go lets you pass the gates with a contactless card on the EAV railways, meaning the Circumvesuviana to Sorrento, the Cumana, the Circumflegrea and the Piscinola to Aversa metro, as well as on ANM metro lines and at the Centrale, Chiaia, Montesanto and Mergellina funicular stations.
- With Tap&Go, tap in at the entry gate and tap out at the exit with the same card, or you are charged the maximum fare. Contactless Mastercard, Visa and Amex cards work, but Visa-issued PostePay reloadable cards do not.
- Naples taxis offer fixed fares per car on set routes, covering airport, night, holiday and luggage supplements but not tolls. You must ask for one before the ride starts, the driver cannot refuse, and a completed receipt is due before departure, with F0.00 on the meter.
- The Centro Antico is a limited traffic zone with four camera gates. Via del Sole is enforced from 9:00 into the night, the others from 9:00 to 17:00 daily. Taxis, motorbikes and cars of hotel guests with a city permit may enter; others are fined automatically.
- Naples levies its tourist tax on non-residents over 14, per person per night, up to 14 consecutive nights. New rates set by the city council took effect on 1 May 2026, and your accommodation collects the tax.
- EAV's GoEav app, in Italian and English, sells tickets for its trains, buses and cable car that run for two hours from purchase, so you can board when the ticket office is shut. It also posts live service changes.
- In the GoEav app, tickets for EAV's two tourist trains, the Campania Express and the Cuma Express, must be paid by credit card or PayPal rather than from the app's stored credit.
