- ACTV takes contactless Mastercard, Visa, Visa Pay, Maestro and American Express cards, or a phone or watch holding one, on its buses, trams, People Mover and water buses. Tap on boarding and at every change; water buses and the People Mover need no tap out.
- Tapping with the same card caps your spending: three trips within 24 hours, water buses included, add up to a Venezia Daily Pass, and 48-hour, 72-hour and 7-day passes build the same way. Trips to or from Marco Polo Airport sit outside the cap.
- Every passenger needs their own ACTV ticket: a ticket on a Venezia Unica card or bank card cannot be validated for a companion travelling with you.
- Alilaguna's Orange Line runs from Marco Polo Airport down the Grand Canal, stopping at Guglie, Rialto and Santa Maria del Giglio. The Blue Line goes by way of Murano, Lido and San Marco and ends at Tronchetto and Santa Lucia station.
- Venice charges day visitors an access fee only on dates the city fixes in advance. The 2026 trial ended on 26 July, the gates and ticket desks were removed for the rest of the year, and the 2027 dates were still to be announced.
- Guests staying in registered accommodation anywhere in the municipality are exempt from the access fee from arrival day to departure day, because they pay the overnight tourist tax instead. Children under 14 and residents of the Veneto are exempt too.
- Staying only on the Ponte della Liberta, Piazzale Roma, Santa Lucia station, the Stazione Marittima, San Basilio or Tronchetto never triggers the access fee, so changing from train or bus to a boat does not count as entering the old city.
- The City of Venice's public Wi-Fi network is VeniceConnected, run by Venis. You need an account from the city's registration form before your first connection.
- ACTV tickets bought in the app or on WhatsApp arrive as a QR code, which you hold on the validator after pressing its QR button. The card reader then stays off for ten seconds.
